Amazon only posts positive reviews, so I would take all of these with a grain of salt (I honestly reckon the excellent reviews here are posted by Amazon themselves.) This TV is awesome. Amazon but is horrible, and you should buy this TV locally, if only just to give you peace of mind. It’s best to business in the U.S. when making a buy this substantial. Call them first if you are unsure. That’s what I did. It made my choice MUCH simpler after getting an thought of how their operation runs.

We bought a Sony Bravia KDL-52XBR4 from Crutchfield ($3000+) and do not plot to ever buy anything from SONY AGAIN! This TV worked for 3 months and we loved it! That is – until it had a failure – described as solarization by the TV Tech who came to check it out. Of course, it was outside of the 30 day return period, but still under warranty. They ordered a part which the Tech installed on the 2nd visit. He powered it up and the screen had some kind of weird defect show up like something splashed across it – it also had some weird black and grey lines showed. Now we are awaiting (until mid-July) a new show from Sony (back-ordered – surprise, surprise!).
Very disappointing to have such an expensive TV work for 3 months and fail! And now to have to wait for a show replacement! Most likely we will have loved watching it for about the same time as it has been in the repair shop! The repair shop has been very responsive to my requests for information and doing all they can to help!Sony Bravia XBR KDL-52XBR4 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
NEVER AGAIN – do not buy from Sony!

I reckon this unit has an brilliant picture quality, but from time to time my satelite input does lack a more desirable signal.

This is a fantastic 1080p LCD, especially if you connect a PS3 to it over HDMI.
But, the VGA PC input has known issues connecting at 1920×1080 @ 60Hz from a PC. Please make sure you’re OK with not using the VGA input for 1080p until some kind of firmware update comes out.
The Indians at Sony’s 800 number are, of course, clueless, and tell you to connect at 640×480 and hit the wide button. “Maybeee you need to buy new SONY Vaio laptop. Only Sonyy labtop have excellent enough graphics for LCD like this.”

I recently bought my Sony 52″ from Amazon. The buying experience on online with Amazon is incredible. The best price in the entire USA, product details etc are 21 century style but the shipping procedures need to be same as well. Two different tracking details one from Amazon with uncertainty, one from their transport company with different transit and delivery details made me monitor the delivery leaving my daily routine. Amazon can do a better job I know so that they stay on top all the time in online shopping.
Thanks
Nasr
