BTW, Texas …
BTW, Texas Instruments built prototypes using cathode ray tubes with spinning phosphor screens back in the 90s. Theirs was a hemisphere 3′ in diameter, their application was for air traffic control displays at airports, showing all aircraft in flight in 3D. It never went to market.
Very Cool.! Looks …
Very Cool.! Looks like they are spinning an LED show panel, turning the LEDS on as needed at the right point in space to draw the image. I thought of the same thought 20 years ago, and did a patent search. The basic concept was patented in the early 1960s, in fact that patent had already expired at the time. It could also be done by spinning a white screen, and drawing images on it with lasers. There is no camera system that would work with this type of show, all images would have to be CGI.

One of the largest …
One of the largest challenges for 3D displays like this one is really the bandwidth between the computer and show. Reckon about it: a 1080p show has 1920×1080 (2.1 million) pixels. Now, say you wanted to make a 640x640x640 show, which is probably not too far from the one above. That’s 262.1 million pixels or 125 1080p displays!!!!!

Hey, I just came …
Hey, I just came across this site that is supposedly giving away a number of the new Motorola Droid’s, ofcourse the chance of getting one is small since there must be tons of people signing up for this, but anyway, I signed up and I’m hoping to be one of the lucky ones. It’s free and takes like 30 seconds so I thought why not. My brother even joined the contest and he already owns a Droid.
Check it out!
