How Do I Tune A Direct Tv Receiver To A Sony Tv Model Nunber Kv1984mt?

I am trying to tune a Direct TV receiver to an older model Sony TV. The TV is a sony model number KV 1984MT. All that runs to the TV from the receiver is a Yellow and White adio/video cable, but the TV just isn’t picking up the signal from the receiver. any suggestions?
