TOSHIBA is plotting to retire the HD DVD format. Reuters reports that the company is in the final stages of plotting its exit from the high-def disc market, handing Blu-ray the role of industry standard. The go comes just days after Wal-Mart finished support for HD DVD in favor of Blu-ray.

MTV NETWORKS has bought BABUNGA and its collection of sites dedicated to small parenting niches. MTVN will establish an ad network that sells ad space on the sites and a handful of similar third-party parenting destinations. The initiative will be centered on the newly revamped ParentsConnect.com, an MTVN social network launched in 2006.

NEWS CORP. is trying to make a Hulu-like venture that offers content from the major music marks on MySpace. The deal calls for The Huge Four to receive equity in MySpace in exchange for allowing their content to be offered free with ad-support. No mark has signed on yet but talks are heating up.

ADVERTISERS are asking ABC, NBC and CBS to retire the $125 million in “integration fees” paid every year just to buy time on their networks. The AAAA and the ANA will soon release a policy paper questioning the fees and asking the networks to defend their necessity. The paper contends that the need for the fees has been removed by advances in technology and points out that other networks (such as Fox) do not charge network integration fees.

CARAT DIGITAL is working on an ad sales platform that uses set-top box data to present on-screen targeted “bugs” to television viewers. The system is currently in testing stages, where it is being used to offer real estate services to viewers thought to be interested in buying a new home. In the future, the company will integrate purchasing data supplied by Acxiom to make a detailed picture of a household’s location, demographics, viewing habits and purchasing history.

PlayStation 3 to Offer Movie Downloads?
Saturday, January 16th, 2010 | Author:

Sony’s PlayStation 3 wants to be more than just a gaming device: it’s plotting to introduce a film and TV show download service. In this episode, we look at how PS3′s digital media maneuver could compete with Apple’s iTunes and Xbox 360′s Live service.

Digital Journal — You can’t go a week without a next-gen gaming console trying to outfox its competitors. This time, Sony is playing catch-up: it has been reported the company will introduce a video download service via its PlayStation Network that will allow PlayStation 3 owners to buy full movies and TV shows. Sony is a few years late in the game, because Xbox 360 Live and Apple iTunes already offer similar download programs.

According to the L.A. Times, who broke the tale, Sony is negotiating licensing deals with studios to bring the video download service to the PS3 as early as the summer 2008.

There’s excellent reason to believe this monumental project is more than just a rumour. Sony’s Peter Dille wrote on the PlayStation blog: “It’s already been confirmed that we’ll be offering a video service for PS3 in a way that separates the service from others you’ve seen or used. Ultimately the goal of the PlayStation Network service will be to break through the overwhelming clutter of digital media to give you the TV, movies and gaming content you want.”

Sony PlayStation 3 attempting to gain ground on the 360 and Nintendo’s Wii — more than 10.5 million PS3s have been sold worldwide since its launch in 2006. And the console’s Blu-ray technology is the hands-down winner when it comes to next-generation DVD viewing.

But can its leap into downloadable films and TV shows give Sony the boost it desperately needs?

In this episode of Digital Journal TV, editors Chris Hogg and David Silverberg discuss the pros and cons of Sony’s upcoming video download service. Learn how PS3′s digital media focus could shake up the industry, and find out how it stacks up to Apple’s iTunes and Xbox 360′s Live reputable offerings.

SSFIIT HD Remix Music-.Chun Li Stage
Saturday, January 16th, 2010 | Author:

Control Motion Changes:

* Super input window is larger and is a fixed size, rather than random size.

* Aerial spinning bird kick can be done with charge down, up+kick, so that you can do it after a pogo, like in SF2:Hyper Fighting

Buffs:

* Removed df+medium kick go (it only ever got in the way, so removing it helps her).

* Ground spinning bird kick has a new parabolic arc. It can also air-juggle and deals a honest amount of dizzy.

* Aerial spinning bird kick travels more straight now, then falls in an arc at the end

* Lighting legs simpler to do (now requires 3 presses of a given kick button rather than 5 presses)

Nerfs:

* df+roundhouse (the “neckbreaker”) no longer crosses up, removing the loop of repeated knockdowns against some characters.

* Lighting legs do less hurt and have barely worse priority in Chun Li’s stomach area.

* Chun Li’s super can still be stored, but deals much less hurt, and follow up with upkicks can get only one extra hit on some characters and usually misses against others.
