TV Decision? 1080p or 720p? Why?
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 | Author:

Okay, so i’m going to buy an HDTV. For while i was going to get a 32” 720p for about $700, a small more depending on the brand. Now i’m considering 37” as i am seeing some fantastic deals on them. Anyways, I’ve been looking at the LG 37LG30 with 720p for a 37”, and the Toshiba Regza 32RV530U 32” 1080p. Both these TVs are the same price ($850). I”m having distress deciding between the two…i want a larger screen, but 1080p would be nice too. But, would i truly benefit from 1080p on a 32” screen, or would it look the same as 720p? And, would 720p on a 37” screen look better than 720p on a 32” screen. I do have Blu-Ray, HD-DVD, PS3, Xbox 360, etc (all of which output up to 1080p)
I keep hearing things about how 1080p doesn’t look any different than 720p on a smaller screen (smaller than 42”), and if it truly does look the same as 720p on a smaller screen, i would want to get the 37” as its larger. Also, the LG 37” 720p (and their 32” i was considering too, both their 32” and their 37” are the same TV except for the screen size) has a 5ms response time, and the Toshiba 32” 1080p has an 8ms response time. Would a slower response time on 1080p make it look not as excellent. The LG has a 4.7/5 average rating on circuitcity.com, and the Toshiba has a 4.1/5. So, to place it simply, would i benefit from 1080p on a 32” screen, or would it look just the same as 720p on that size of a screen? Should i just go with 720p on the larger screen, or 1080p on the 32”?

Thanks!!

Well all i know is if you get a 32inch tv the difference is non existant. 720p picture is incredible enough in comparison to Standard definition.
On both Tv’s 720p will look very excellent the difference will be Invisible because of the few inches difference. Response time is Not really relevent when talking about image quality instead you should look at contrast ratio I would recommend at least a 15,000:1 ratio as it determines to Depth of colour. In my opinion Go for the 37 inch 720p

Excellent luck.

TV doesn’t turn on, clicking sound?
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 | Author:

I have an ancient Panasonic Magnavox TV. I was watching TV when suddenly it turned off. Now when I try to turn it on, it turns on and off repeatedly, with a clicking sound. I see a picture/light but just for a second, then it turns off.

What would cause this? I know where to buy cheap replacements parts, so thats no huge deal.

Probably the tube itself went BYE-BYE! the only thing to check is unplug it from the wall for a minute or two then plug it back in. If that doesn’t work send it to the recycling or get rid of it on Craigslist!

Please help me decide which tv is the better buy.?

I am able to get in on some excellent deals and am confused about what to get.
There is a 42" Vizio, 42" Proscan, 37" LG, or 37" Samsung that are each available to me for only $490. Anyone have any excellent or terrible experiences with any of these. They are all HDTV

Buy the Samsung as it is the only TV on your list that comes from a reputable company.

The other brands you have listed won’t even last 2 yrs – you can bet on it.

Stay away from the others and get the SAMSUNG , unless you want to be ringing people like me to come and fix it for you every 6 mths or so.
