The Sony VAIO E-Series notebooks come in a wide variety of configurations; our sample model sported a 2.13 Ghz Intel Core i3 330M CPU, a 500GB 5400 RPM mechanical hard drive and a Blu-Ray combo drive for multimedia purposes.

The E-Series holds up well as a mid-range laptop. The screen size, speedy CPU and Blu-Ray/HDMI-out combo make it an ideal fit as a mobile multimedia machine. The dimensions and weight, while not as portable as a netbook, are still easily transported to class or work on a regular basis. The battery life was a bit lacking, but did play back a full-screen video for just over 3 hours — which isn’t too terrible for a 15.5″ screen.
