Hello, Im looking into buying a lcd tv and xs cargo has some on sale which is cheaper than futureshop and other stores in my town. Which would be better? And the xs cargo one is refurbished does that affect anything? Thanks for everyone comments.

Yes both are very excellent deals… but with a excellent deal there could be a catch… look at the reviews of the tvs and do research to find out their reliability…

and refurbished just means they have been repaired… also refurbished products go through the same quality control tests as new products if not more…

So i went to video only in portland the other week and bought a 47" lg hdtv. turns out the picture quality is terrible and the blacks are too bright. I got pressured into getting the tv and now i regret it. I am going back this sunday and getting a full refund. I am going to buy a samsung tv instead because it looks like they get a ton of fantastic reviews. I have about $1200 to spend on a new tv. I want 1080p and 120hz because i just upgraded to comcast HD cable and got a new box. The people at video only always give you excellent deals. they knocked off my lg tv from $1350 to $1000. Knowing i can get a fantastic deal like that what is the best Samsung HDTV that is anywhere from 40" to 46"? Thanks!

In order to keep it within your budget, look for a Samsung 6 series. The higher series add some contrast and add a bunch of multimedia options. But those add a bunch of cost and if you don’t need them, not much value then. The 6 series gives you better bang for the dollar.

So look for things like Samsung LN40B630 (or 650 or such). The 6 in there is the series number. That’s what you need to be looking out for.

Best Buy has the Samsung LN46B640 on sale for $1,350 right now. So if they could get you an even better deal than maybe that would be a 46" option to consider. Otherwise, I’d step back to the 40" range to get back within your budget.

I’d also throw out there the Panasonic Viera TC-P42G10. Its on a ridiculous excellent sale on Amazon right now. They are selling it for only $900. Its one of the strongest 42" sets you can own, period. Might not be what you want, but figured I’d throw it out there for you just incase.
